March BSoUP Meeting

The next BSoUP meeting is on Tuesday 19th March at 7.30 for 8.00 p.m.  Meeting Room 3, Union Building,  Beit Quadrangle, Imperial College, South Kensington, London SW7 [Entrance via Prince Consort Road]. New and prospective new members will be welcomed from 7.30 p.m. See Welcome.

The Future of BSoUP

BSoUP Chairman Paul Colley will give a short update about current thinking for BSoUP’s future and then lead a discussion with members.  For those not able to attend the London meeting, Paul is keen that members use the GoToMeeting live chat facility to forward ideas or comments during the discussion.

Competition:  Theme Portfolio

Definition:  A portfolio of 3 images shown together as a single composite image. The images should sit harmoniously together, but can be of any subject matter. Images may be of the same subject or scene, or they may be different subjects, but there should be an obvious connection between them.

There are fifteen portfolios entered and these have been judged by Joss Woolf who will present the top six along with her comments at the meeting.  You can view all of the entries by clicking on the following link - Theme Portfolio 2019. You may be asked to log in if you have not already done so.

Joss is based in North London and has been taking underwater pictures for sixteen years.  She is currently editor of BSoUP's In Focus magazine and organizes the speakers for BSoUP meetings.

An image review with a difference

Paul will show some diverse images by a range of BSoUP members, with no particular theme.  He will encourage a discussion about the images, which may be very wide ranging to embrace any aspect about the technical and artistic approaches to our underwater photography.

And if you cannot attend.....

DIVE 2019 - 26/27 October

THE MOVE INTO Hall 1 at the NEC for last year’s Dive Show proved popular with both exhibitors and the 15,000-plus visitors who turned up over two days for the premiere event in the UK diving calendar.

Impressive internal and external enhancements to the nation’s top events venue were also extremely well received, and Hall 1’s location just inside the NEC (Birmingham) Main Entrance was a welcome bonus.

So with the NEC in greater demand than ever from organisers large and small wishing to enjoy the best profile for their events, the Dive Show is delighted to have secured prime weekend dates of 26/27 October for DIVE 2019.
